[테크월드뉴스=박지성 기자] Amid growing concerns over environmental issues, a newly unveiled machine that simplifies the disposal and recycling of single-use cups has garnered widespread attention. From January 7 to 10 (local time), at “CES 2025”—the world’s largest consumer electronics and IT exhibition held in Las Vegas—“NAWA,” with support from the Daejeon-Sejong-Chungnam Regional Innovation Platform’s Autonomous Driving Systems Project Group, showcased its smart disposal system for single-use cups. The device accommodates single-use cups—whether paper or plastic—of any size. When inserted upright, it automatically discards leftover liquid, then washes, stores, compresses, and dries the cups. By eliminating the need for separating recycling steps, the machine attracted significant on-site interest for its convenience. In addition to showcasing its product, NAWA demonstrated CPS-based virtual space design and analysis in collaboration with Korea University’s private-sector professional lab, KU-3DS, utilizing Dassault Systèmes’ 3D-EXPERIENCE. With its innovative product, NAWA—a two-year-old startup—has already won awards in approximately 30 competitions. After recently establishing a subsidiary in Japan, the company continues to expand globally.
